25 For 25 Charity Challenge! Vote Oct.
16-25
If you were at the September General Membership meeting,
you heard Steve Fellman give a report about an opportunity for the Wolf River Habitat for Humanity to
receive grant funds from the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, a nonprofit organization
that strengthens community for current and future generations by helping people make a difference in the
lives of others.
Let’s help! Go to the Community Foundation for the Fox
Valley Regions’ website, www.cffoxvalley.org and click on
the 25 for 25 Charity Challenge icon. You may vote for one nonprofit organization on the
ballot once per day during the voting period, October 16 – 25. Let’s help out fellow member
Wolf River Habitat for Humanity and vote for them! (group 2)
The organizations on the list are eligible to receive up
to $25,000 in grant funds. Winners will be determined by the number of votes
received. The top vote-getters in each category (five organizations total) will
receive a $25,000 endowment within the region and a $2,500 unrestricted grant to use
immediately. The next four top vote-getters in each category (20 organizations total)
will each receive a $2,500 grant to use immediately as they choose.
Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, Robert and
Patricia Endries Family Foundation, Mielke Family Foundation, Lyle and Victoria Reigel, Doug and Carla
Salmon are providing the funds for this challenge.
Don’t forget to vote! Once
per day for one non-profit – Wolf River Habitat for Humanity!
Planning, Development & Zoning Public
Hearing
The Shawano County Planning, Development & Zoning
committee has sent out notice of a public hearing on October 5, 2011 in Room A & B of the Shawano
County Courthouse to again consider possible changes to include but not be limited to the fees charged
for certain permits, public hearing actions and other permits, services, and products.
This meeting will be held on Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m.
Any interested person may appear at the public hearing and
be heard. Written comments may be submitted to the Shawano County Zoning
Administrator, Robert W. Jacobson, and will be read into the record for consideration by the
Committee.
If you are available to attend this meeting, we would
again like to have a show of force from the association. As was discussed at the WRBA
September board meeting, none of the factors voiced at the past zoning meetings have
changed. The economy has not improved. The status of the building
industry has not improved. This is not the time for raising
fees.
